AfriGO is proud to announce its support for the Federal Government’s plan to integrate over 20% of unbanked Nigerians into the formal banking system. As part of this initiative, AfriGO recently sponsored the two-day National Stakeholders’ Workshop on Economic and Financial Inclusion, demonstrating its unwavering commitment to driving positive change across Nigeria.
During the workshop’s commencement in Abuja, Vice President Kashim Shettima unveiled the government’s visionary strategy, emphasizing the urgent need to reduce financial exclusion and provide equitable access to banking services for all Nigerians. Former Governor of the Central Bank and the 14th Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido, underscored the critical link between financial inclusion and addressing security challenges, highlighting the importance of efficient payment systems in fostering stability and prosperity.
The workshop brought together a diverse group of experts, including Central Bank Governor Olayemi Cardoso, traditional rulers, and representatives from the private sector, to explore innovative solutions for integrating the unbanked population into the formal financial ecosystem.
Prior to the event, Senator Ibrahim Hadejia, the Deputy Chief of Staff to the President, reaffirmed the government’s commitment to tackling poverty and insecurity through economic and financial inclusion initiatives. He emphasized President Tinubu’s agenda, which prioritizes providing access to essential financial services such as transaction accounts, savings, credit, and insurance to all Nigerians.
